Writing Non-Fiction Books Workshop

This workshop will cover everything from the planning stage, effective researching, interviewing, fact-checking and getting permissions. With eight of Karen’s 19 published books being non-fiction, this workshop will be invaluable for the non-fiction book you might be thinking about writing!

Karen is the author of 19 books published in nine countries, with a long backlist of non-fiction books as diverse as Unbreakable Spirit and Feast or Famine. Everyday Strength with co-author chef Sam Mannering represented New Zealand in the Gourmand World Awards, while Love in Aotearoa was a finalist in the Ashton Wylie Awards. Karen has also ghost-written From the Blitz to the Burmese Jungle and Beyond: A Memoir by Brian Hennessy.
Karen is a regular book reviewer with media and has been on Radio NZ, Magic Talk, The Hits, More FM, Radio Rhema and The AM Show TV3. She was the resident book reviewer on The Café TV3 for two years. She is the Director of NZ Booklovers, an online hub that supports other authors with reviews, interviews, articles and promotions. In 2018 NZ Booklovers launched their annual Book Awards for fiction, lifestyle books and children’s books. When she is not helping other writers, Karen also writes bestselling historical fiction for adults and the popular Elastic Island Adventures series for children, which is optioned to be made into movies.
