International artist visiting Kirikiriroa, to work with Wintec students on an exciting contemporary mural project

Renee Cosgrave (b. 1986, Aotearoa/New Zealand) lives and works in Naarm/Melbourne on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. Renee is from Aotearoa of Irish, Māori (NgātiTūwharetoa, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Maniapoto & NgāiTūhoe) and Scottish ancestry. Renee’s practice explores painting, drawing, raranga (Māori weaving) and public art, her recent works are inspired by lands and waters in Aotearoa and speaks to concepts of whakapapa, her works can become dedicated to people or place. Colour, pattern/repetition and process inform her paintings.
