Vessels and Journeys

6 Oct – 1 Nov

Teacher & Painter Herman Harmzen exhibits his extraordinary large works alongside a favourite artist Ceramicist Sarah Lee

Herman Harmzen and Sarah Lee bring an exhibition that invites us to consider our own vessels & journeys: what they hold, what they protect, or what they become.

Sarah’s quirky, intricately crafted creatures will co-habitate in the Whakaaturanga gallery with Herman’s striking large paintings. This show runs simultaneously with Jenni Taris exhibition in our Awatea space and with two other shows appearing in our community space.

From 27 October to 15th of November we have a contemporary Toi Māori graduation show by emerging Kirikiroa artist Kimiora Whaanga. Prior to Kimi, Cushla Arbuckle will be exhibiting her fascinating autobiographical collages in the Community Gallery from 13 to 25 October. Peter Dornauf and Clare Matira exhibit together after Herman and Sarah with a fibre art and painting exhibition.

It is a full to busting programme that is capped off with Morrinsville Mini’s the rural version of Christmas at the Meteor. We hope you enter a tree for free or visit over the three-week show. Subscribe to our newsletter via the Morrinsville Gallery Website to keep ahead of this super busy run up to Christmas.
