Make an afternoon of it!
Come in time to hear the pre-concert talk given by featured New Zealand composer Louise Webster, in discussion with conductor Joshua Kirk and Orchestras Central’s Chief Executive, Catherine Gibson.

Featuring the expressive tenderness of Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie with virtuosic young clarinettist Stefenie Pickston. Staying in France, Bizet’s famous Pearl Fishers Duet showcases Jordan and Alfred Fonoti-Fuimaono – prize winners in the 2021 Dame Malvina Major Waikato Aria competition at the University of Waikato Conservatorium of Music.

The beauty of the land and waters of Aotearoa, interspersed with fragments of birdsong, is reflected in Landscape Songs by New Zealand composer Louise Webster. Dvorak’s seventh symphony with its sunlit passages and warm-hearted lyrical themes throughout also shows a darker side with a sense of tragedy alongside the rustic bird song and horn calls.
