Thames Paint Out

28 Feb

Join us for an open-air painting session! All skill levels welcome—bring your kit and capture Thames' beauty with fellow artists.

Experience the charm of Thames through the eyes of an artist. The Creativity Room invites you to the Thames Paint Out, a one-day celebration of “en plein air” painting. Whether you are a professional artist, a weekend hobbyist, or a complete beginner picking up a brush for the first time, this event is designed for you.

Thames is a treasure trove of inspiration, from its rugged coastal views and historic Grahamstown architecture to the hidden gems along Pollen Street. Participants will have the day to find their perfect spot and capture the unique light and atmosphere of the Coromandel.

How it works:

Registration: Check-in at the Vessel Gallery (752 Pollen Street) between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM to collect your welcome pack and pre-stamped canvas or watercolor paper.

The Creative Challenge: You’ll have until 2:00 PM to complete your work entirely outdoors within the map boundaries provided. All 2D mediums (oil, acrylic, watercolor, dry media) are welcome!

The Grand Finale: Finished works will be displayed at Grahamstown Hall for a “Wet Wall” exhibition. This is a rare chance for the public to view art fresh off the easel.

Prizes & Auction: Stay for the afternoon prize-giving and a silent auction, where you have the option to sell your masterpiece to local art lovers.

Bring your easel, your paints, and your passion for creativity. Let’s fill the streets of Thames with color!
