Silverclay Workshop

Explore this unique creative practice, combining clay techniques with a sterling silver finish
We welcome Marcia back to The Sculpture Park at Waitakaruru Arboretum for another magical silver-clay workshop. This special material allows participants to work with clay, modelling shapes and introducing textures as they create a unique pair of earrings. The ‘clay’ earrings are then fired by Marcia resulting in a special piece of sterling silver jewellery.
Don’t miss the opportunity to work with this unusual material. Marcia has many years of experience making and selling her own jewellery and will work alongside participants sharing her skills and knowledge. Be inspired by the special environment of the arboretum as you create a unique pair of earrings for yourself or as a special gift.
Silver-clay is made up of very fine pieces of sterling silver contained within a clay base. The firing process burns away the clay leaving the silver. During the workshop you will use the clay to create your own unique piece, Marcia will then take all the work for firing and polishing and return your earrings 2 – 3 weeks after the workshop.
