Save the planet, make a zine!

1 Jun

Join Waikato Museum's workshop to create handcrafted zines, inspired by the themes of 'Six Extinctions' and the climate crisis.

Whether you already love making zines or want to step up to sharing your creativity in printed form – welcome!

Zines are the original low-carbon footprint form of mass consciousness raising. A zine is a small handcrafted, self-produced booklet of original or re-purposed writing and images. It’s a great way to publish and share your own art, poems, opinions, photos, slogans, manifestos and more.

This free workshop responds to the themes of Waikato Museum’s exhibition Six Extinctions – especially the climate crisis. Bring your own poems or drawings or anything else you want to zine-ify. Or you can create pages on the spot with collage, writing and drawing materials provided. We also have a photocopier and paper for you to use. You’ll take your zine home with you, and be part of a lo-fi, sustainable movement for publishing, activism and sharing your passions. Save the planet, make a zine!

Suitable for ages 13 years and older.
