Restaurants documents every Chinese restaurant across the Waikato. This ambitious photographic project by Channing Zhao looks to the mundane as significant. Zhao has sought to synthesise the ideas of the vernacular and everyday into a layered and refined body of work that speaks to shifting understandings of place. As a visual record, Restaurants carries the memory of time, in an increasingly transient and fragmented world.
