Opus Orchestra - Karohirohi

26 Jul

Join us for an evening of whimsy and classical grace with orchestra and harp.

Step into a world where whimsy and classical grace collide in Opus Orchestra’s dynamic concert lineup. We begin with Albert Schnelzer’s “A Freak in Burbank” blending Tim Burton’s quirkiness with Haydn’s ingenuity, for a thrilling opener. The mood softens with Gillian Whitehead’s “Karohirohi,” one of NZ’s only solo harp concertos.

Post-intermission, the harp continues to enchant in Debussy’s “Danses Sacrées et Profanes,” leading to the rhythmic elegance of Haydn’s “Symphony No.101, ‘The Clock’,” a playful masterpiece of timing and wit. Conducted by Vincent Hardaker and featuring harp soloist Ingrid Bauer.
