Ngā Hau e Whā - Contemporary Toi Māori emerging masters in Morrinsville

A wonderful exhibit of inspiring and beautiful mahi by 11 wāhine from around Aotearoa.
Ngā Hau E Whā presents a window into the art practices of eleven wāhine Māori with iwi affiliations from near and far. Featured in this exhibition are the artists expressions of whakapapa, mātauranga, and lived realities.
The callout to artists proposed a contemplation of Te Kore as the realm of creative potential where each of the artists could interpret this kaupapa in their own way and offer into the exhibition a view into their creative expression.
The artists engage with customary and non-customary references through various media where experimentation, innovation, and new material languages show case the continuum of contemporary toi Māori today.
We acknowledge Kiingi Tāwhiao rendered by a descendant as well the mahi toi nearby of artists who are uri.
Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou, e te mana whenua, mō tō koutou manaakitanga me te pōwhiri ātaahua hei whakatuwhera i tā mātou whakaaturanga toi.
