Merry Minis in Morrinsville: A Community Christmas Creation

Morrinsville’s Merry Minis: Light Up the Season!

Join the festive fun by decorating a mini tree! Your business will be showcased in the heart of the community — and you might just win the People’s Choice Award!

Merry Minis in Morrinsville:  A Community Christmas Creation
Morrinsville Gallery is bringing a new sparkle to the festive season with the launch of Merry Minis in Morrinsville, a community art project celebrating creativity, sustainability, and the spirit of Christmas.

This new event will feature a vibrant exhibition of mini Christmas trees, each crafted by members of the local community. The display will lead you through to the award-winning Mini Christmas Lights Display – Gibsonville by Helen and Brian Gibson, making the Gallery a must-visit destination this December. We will be running some late closing times to increase the accessibility.

Calling All Makers, Families, and Community Groups
The Gallery is inviting families, local businesses, schools, and community groups to create or decorate mini Christmas tree to be displayed in the gallery throughout December.
Entries can be hand-made, recycled, or sustainable, and prizes will be awarded in several categories including Age Groups, Family Groups, Local Businesses, and a People’s Choice Award.  Judges will be looking for inventive, playful, and eco-friendly designs that capture the magic of the season.

Workshops to Inspire Creators – a great team building exercise!
To help participants get started or refine ideas Morrinsville Gallery hosted two tutored  Mini Tree Makers and Decorators Workshops in November.

If you would like to be part of a future workshop, please email us at info@morrinsvillegallery.org.nz.

Completed mini trees are to be delivered to the Gallery by Monday 1 December along with the $10 entry fee (which will go to prizes) and an entry form, available online or from Gallery reception.

The Merry Minis in Morrinsville exhibition will be open throughout December, supported by the Matamata-Piako District Council.

Celebrating 15 Years of Creativity and Community

In 2025, the Morrinsville Art Gallery Charitable Trust proudly celebrates 15 years as a cornerstone of creativity and connection in the Matamata-Piako District. Since opening our doors, we’ve grown into a vibrant hub for artistic expression—welcoming local residents and visitors from across the Waikato region into a space that celebrates imagination, culture, and shared experiences.

Through a dynamic program of exhibitions and events, we support both emerging and established artists from around Aotearoa. Our gallery offers a space for reflection on the contemporary issues that shape our society, and our mission remains to inspire, connect, and engage our community through the power of creativity.

None of this would be possible without the generosity of artists, donors, volunteers, and supporters like you. Your contributions have helped shape our journey, and we are deeply grateful.

As we mark this milestone, we warmly invite you to be part of our future—the creative future of our region.

Thank you for being part of our story.
Kindly,

The Morrinsville Gallery Family
