The Morrinsville Gallery is excited to present a remarkable exhibition celebrating the spirit of Matariki in our district and the greater Waikato region. Entitled “Matariki in Morrinsville – Waikato Wide Collective”, the exhibition will run from 18th June to 19th July 2025.

Join us for the opening event on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. We are excited to be at the heart of community art in the Matamata-Piako District and are thrilled by the enthusiastic response from over 30 artists across the Waikato region, including Morrinsville, Te Aroha, Matamata, Thames, Coromandel, Te Awamutu, Tamahere, and Hamilton, who have contributed to this fantastic call-out.

There is no entry fee to visit our exhibitions, but donations are greatly appreciated. During the event, enjoy a cup of tea and light refreshments while you meet our talented artists and creators.

Our dedicated Curator, Elizabeth Borrows, is leading this project, and in collaboration with our volunteers, she has organized the displayed works across our three galleries: Community, Whakaaturanga, and Awatea.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to MPD Creative Communities NZ and the Matamata-Piako District Council, our generous supporters, who have made this exhibition possible. Thank you! for your support!
