Matamata Community Choir Concert
The new choir's first ever public concert. From the community for the community.
On Sunday, 11 December, you’re all invited to come and listen to the new Matamata Community Choir when they perform their first ever concert. The concert will be at the Matamata-Piako Civic Centre and will start at 2pm.
Stepping away from the tradition of the ‘Carol Concert’ this new choir aims to appeal to a wider audience with a diverse repertoire. There will be songs ranging the centuries, including “You Raise Me Up”, Mozart’s Ave Verum, and “Pokarekare Ana”, plus a selection of Christmas songs sung in four part harmony including “O Holy Night”, and an invitation to the audience to join in with “The First Noel”, “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “While Shepherds Watched”.
Our conductor is Jenny Brown, and our accompanist is Cheryl King.
The choir will be recruiting for more members next year, but for now, come along on Sunday to hear what this new community initiative has to offer.
No door charge, Koha will be gratefully received.
