Matamata Community Choir
Community choir, all welcome, no auditions. Singing for the joy of singing.
Our first rehearsal is at All Saints Hall (not the church), 6 Hohaia Street, Matamata on TUESDAY AUGUST 9TH at 7.15pm until 9pm and weekly after that.
We welcome male and female singers of all ages, from teenagers to seniors, with all ranges of voices, (soprano, alto, tenor and bass). It is not necessary to be able to read music, and we will supply audio files when we think it might be helpful. The only requirement is a love of singing and a willingness to learn songs and sing in four part harmony.
Our plans are to sing a wide variety of music: secular and sacred; pop, folk, show tunes and waiata. Sheet music will be provided and will be emailed to members who provide an email address. Ideally members will print their own copies, but we will arrange to have printed scores available for those who cannot print their own.
Because we are a new organisation, we will be asking for a modest subscription to join. This money will enable us to pay the costs of venues for rehearsals and performances, the purchase of new music, and advertising expenses.
Our Musical Director is Ken Brown, who is a very experienced singer. Ken is developing a repertoire for us which will cover a wide range of styles.
We are conscious that Covid-19 is still a threat and we will be making efforts to ensure that social distancing is observed at all rehearsals.
