Journaling for Joy: A Gratitude-based Zine Workshop

7 Jun

A Sunday afternoon workshop in which participants will respond to journaling prompts before creating an 8 page mini-zine to keep.

Journaling is a commonly prescribed approach to maintaining mental wellbeing, but we’re not often taught how to journal.

“In my experience as a Secondary school teacher of English, I have observed that, without guidance, freewriting often descends into cognitive distortions and rumination. As the teacher in charge of Writer’s Club, I was able to guide young writers towards journaling for joy, using sensory-somatic writing prompts. I am no longer a teacher, and I miss the magic of teaching another to write in a way that works for them.” – Facilitator, Brittany Rose

The Journaling for Joy workshop is a two hour session with guided writing prompts to help you relax, unwind and appreciate life’s little glimmers a little more. Paper arts such as collage are included. You’ll leave with a prompt booklet, an 8-page folded zine and a light heart.
