Introduction to Bookbinding

3 May

A wonderful opportunity to spend a day with Monica Peters as she shares her love of all things book!

We are excited to welcome Monica Peters as she joins us at The Sculpture Park at Waitakaruru Arboretum.  Monica will be sharing her skills, knowledge and passion for the versatility and beauty of hand-bound books.

In this workshop you will learn how to easily create unique handmade books using binding techniques that don’t require specialist tools. You’ll come away with two unique handmade books. Use your books as diaries, albums, recipe books or give a gift to someone special.

Materials will be supplied but you can also bring along any paper or card to use as part of your own book.

As a bona-fide bibliophile, Monica has been creating handmade books for over 25 years. Most have been made while travelling and from whatever materials she has available at the time. She will share a range of her own books and share how the style of binding can enhance book content and how what’s in a book can shape the way it’s bound.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn new skills or develop existing techniques all in the beautiful arboretum environment at Waitakaruru.
