Daylight Savings by Melanie Allison
“Maybe all the other planets are worse, and this world is the best it ever gets?”
In the near future, Earth’s attempt to save the dying sun fails, plunging the world into endless darkness. Two decades later, humanity endures, with chain superstore Daylight Savings selling UV lights, vitamin D vapes, and glowsticks. Three young workers navigate the forever night shift, but their world is upended when two criminals take the store hostage, intent on creating their own sun.
Magic Mirror presents a staged reading of Melanie Allison’s latest award-nominated play, as part of The Meteor’s HIKO! festival this November. Feedback is invited to help develop next year’s full production and forms will be provided at each showing. We look forward to receiving your valuable input on this developmental showing.
