The aim of the Arts Collective Whangamata/Harcourts Art Challenge is to foster and encourage artists living and working in the Coromandel Peninsula

The competition is open to artists in Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and Waikato.

The Creative Writing; Short Story & Poetry Prize is an exciting new component of the Harcourts Art Challenge held on the 24 – 26 January 2025 in Whangamata.

The winning prize is proudly donated by the WHANGAMATA CLUB INC.

The “Big Arts Day Out” will be held at the Memorial Hall, Port Road, Whangamata in conjunction with the Arts Collective/Harcourts Challenge.  This will be preceded by the Prize Giving and night of music, wine and canapes on Friday 24th January, 5:00 – 8:00pm.  Tickets will be available at the Whangamata Information Centre from December.

The deadline for receipt of all entries is: 10 January 2025

Entry theme is the Senses: Touch, Taste, Smell, Sight.  Submissions can be based on one sense or a combination of senses.

Entry Fee:  Member – $45 first piece and $10 each subsequent piece.  Non-Members – $75 first piece and $10 each subsequent piece.  This also includes any entries under the Art category.  The price includes a free ticket to the wine and cheese event and free exhibit space at BADO.

The winner will receive $500.

All entries are judged anonymously.  Please do not include your name, address, phone number, email, website, social media details etc on the short story/poetry document or in the file name.
