Follow a soaring Albatross in Flight, a short fanfare by renowned Aotearoa New Zealand composer Anthony Ritchie, before embarking on an intensely virtuosic and romantic journey with the exquisite Violin Concerto by Sibelius – performed by up-and-coming star, Kauri May, winner of the 2022 University of Waikato Concerto Competition.

The second half of the concert opens with arguably the most famous four-notes in classical music history. Beethoven’s fifth symphony is known worldwide and has been used in countless films, and from disco versions to rock and roll covers.
