Hamilton City has been invited to put forward a youth performance group to represent the city at the 2026 Chengdu International Youth Music Festival

Youth aged 16 + performance groups are invited to submit an expression of interest to represent Hamilton and if selected, will have the chance to perform live in Chengdu, China (24th August – 1 September 2026, Chengdu, China).

Creative Waikato is managing this EOI process on behalf of Hamilton City Council. We’re looking for a Hamilton-based youth performance group (music or dance) with strong performance experience who would be confident representing the city in an international setting.

A few important things to note:

• Accommodation, meals, local transport and cultural visits in Chengdu are covered for up to 6 musicians (with gear) or 8 dancers.
• There is no additional performance compensation with this opportunity.
• If selected, you will need to provide an introduction package (including HD photos and a performance video) by 31 March 2026.
• If selected, all members will need a current passport and be able to secure any travel documents, including visas etc.
