From Kathmandu to Mamaku: A Reflective Journey
January 20 – February 18
Exhibiting at Artspost in Hamilton
Sarj Hada invites you to explore a visual narrative of migration, resilience, and belonging. Born in Kathmandu into the artistic lineage of the Newar tribe, Sarj’s path led him to build a life in Australia before finding his flourishing place here in Rotorua. This exhibition centers on the tension and harmony of belonging to three places at once. Drawing inspiration from heavyweights like Pollock, Bacon, and Whiteley, Sarj uses an experimental, mixed-media approach to investigate the “push and pull” of cultural assimilation. From the intricate heritage of the Kathmandu Valley to the rugged beauty of the Mamaku Ranges, this collection is a celebration of the journey so far—open to new ventures and defined by a commitment to continuous growth.
