Elemental Dialogues by Ginny Lane and Richard Jackson

This exhibition presents the work of woodturner Richard and potter Ginny. Although both artists work primarily with different materials, they understand how forms and finishes may come together to enhance disparate materials; a form of alchemy emerging where their practices converge.

Richard’s turned vessels explore the inherent grain and warmth of timber, while Ginny’s forms explore the malleability of clay, and the unpredictability of the firing process. A dialogue ensues which challenges each artist to work in new ways to accommodate the distinctive qualities of each other’s medium. The resulting form is a symbiosis of two mediums melded into one.
