Dlight

17 Oct

An enchanting evening of beautiful sound and magical illumination in the TreeChurch and surrounding gardens. What happens when the sun goes down?

Something is coming to TreeChurch after dark. ✨

On Saturday 17th October 2026, TreeChurch and Gardens will become something entirely different.

DLIGHT is an immersive night of music, poetry, performance and light, set amongst one of Ōhaupō’s most magical places. Wander through illuminated gardens, discover unexpected performances, hear music in extraordinary spaces. Stay for a drink. Take it all in. This isn’t a show you sit down and watch; it’s an experience you step into.

Cinematic piano soundscapes with interactive light display – At the heart of the experience is the TreeChurch, a breathtaking natural chapel, where the sounds of Horomona Horo (taonga pūoro) will meet the piano and electronic soundscapes of Jeremy Mayall.

A string quartet performs a selection of pieces both old and new – The Parachute will host Kulios, a string quartet performing beneath a striking parachute canopy lit by a kaleidoscope of pattern and colour.

Spoken word poetry to inspire and reflect – The Labyrinth will provide an atmospheric setting for local poets performing against a backdrop of Himalayan Birch avenues.

Acoustic illuminations – Be serenaded by the soulful voice of Nathan King, front man of award-winning band Zed, while enjoying the light playing on the shade sails.
