Join Hamilton City Brass for Dan Forrest’s most ambitious work yet - a breathtaking new oratorio arranged for brass band.

Join us for truly sensational musical event as Hamilton City Brass and a Festival Chorus return to the Hamilton Arts Festival for the fourth consecutive year, presenting Dan Forrest’s Creation. 

Written to celebrate the 225th anniversary of Haydn’s iconic masterpiece, this remarkable work is Dan Forrest’s most ambitious composition to date.   Newly arranged for brass band by Todd Smith, Creation is a powerful 68-minute oratorio that reimagines the story of our world through music of striking beauty and emotional depth.  Audiences will be drawn into an awe-inspiring journey that celebrates the wonders of the planet, illuminated by soaring choral writing, rich brass textures, and expressive solos for soprano and baritone. 

Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Rhododendron Lawn, this special performance will feature a cast of 100 local musicians. Under the expert baton of Musical Director Maria Colvin, the dynamic energy of a 70-voice choir combines with the brilliance of Hamilton City Brass and outstanding vocal soloists to create a truly immersive concert experience.
