Creative Stitching Inspired by Boro

28 Nov

Join Pip Steel as she guides a creative session inspired by the historical Japanese stitching technique of Boro.

Join a creative stitching workshop in the beautiful environment at The Sculpture Park at Waitakaruru Arboretum.  Pip Steel gives you the opportunity to see authentic examples of Boro from her personal collection.  You will learn more about the practice of Boro including how and why it developed.

As an experienced textile artist and tutor, Pip is able to share knowledge and techniques inspired by this ancient Japanese practice.  Using Sashiko (a traditional running stitch) you will have the opportunity to try out a variety of techniques throughout the day.  Bring along your own project or work on a stitched sampler.  You can use fabrics and threads that Pip provides or come with your own favourite materials.  This will be a relaxed day of creativity suitable for all levels of ability.

Placed at the heart of the arboretum, our workshop space is perfect workshops, providing an inspirational and peaceful setting for all creative practice.
