Carols by Light

6 Dec

Cantando Choir will present a concert of radiant choral music that brings together shimmering carols, time classics, and festive joy for all.

This Christmas season, audiences are warmly invited to Carols by Light, a concert of radiant choral music that brings together shimmering carols, timeless classics, and festive joy.

At the heart of the programme is Benjamin Britten’s beloved A Ceremony of Carols, a luminous cycle for choir and harp that captures both the innocence and mystery of Christmas through ancient texts and evocative harmonies. The concert will also feature the glowing serenity of Morten Lauridsen’s O Nata Lux, Francis Poulenc’s profoundly moving O Magnum Mysterium, and Gustav Holst’s jubilant Christmas Day.

Complementing these masterpieces are Charles Wood’s resplendent anthem Hail Gladdening Light and Adam Adolphe’s expressive arrangement of O Holy Night, bringing both tradition and freshness to the seasonal repertoire. Harpist Ivy Hou, will add sparkle and intimacy to the evening, weaving together moments of reflection and celebration.

Carols by Light offers audiences an unforgettable experience of warmth, beauty, and inspiration—an evening where music becomes a beacon of peace and joy in the midst of the festive season.
