Join us for this conversation with Catherine Knight, author of An Uncommon Land: From an ancestral past of enclosure towards a regenerative future. In this latest book, Catherine interweaves the stories of her ancestors, who settled in Whangamarino, Waikato, with the wider social history that shaped New Zealand. In this engaging discussion with Justin Connolly (Wellbeing Economy Alliance), she will examine the history of commons, their enclosure, and the potential for a re-commoned, regenerative economy centred on wellbeing.
Dr Catherine Knight is an award‑winning environmental historian and author of several acclaimed books: including New Zealand’s Rivers: An environmental history, Beyond Manapouri: 50 years of environmental politics in New Zealand and Nature and Wellbeing in Aotearoa New Zealand. Catherine works in public policy and is an Honorary Research Associate at Massey University.
An Uncommon Land: From an ancestral past of enclosure towards a regenerative future will be available for sale and signing at the event.
