Led by industry professionals and Toi Whakaari graduates Miryam Jacobi and Jack Barry, this course is supported by the Creative Communities Scheme and for anyone who is passionate about diving into the world of screen acting.

COURSE DETAILS
SCHEDULE: Mondays, 6:30pm – 9pm
DATES: 21 July – 18 August 2025
DURATION: 5 weeks
LOCATION: Dailies Studio, Te Rapa, Hamilton
PRICE: $250 plus GST (valued at $500)

JACK BARRY, a graduate of Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School, has accumulated a significant portfolio of film and television credits, including roles in BBC’s “The Luminaries,” Netflix’s “Sweet Tooth,” “Friends Like Her,” “The Convert,” “Ka Whawhai Tonu”, “The Making of the Mob: Chicago,” and substantial roles in “Shortland Street,” “The Brokenwood Mysteries,” TVNZ telefeature “The Flash” and an upcoming international Netflix drama. His stage experience encompasses productions such as “The Things Between Us” and “Billy Elliot the Musical.”
MIRYAM JACOBI is a director, producer and acting graduate of Toi Whakaari. Miryam has shown work at film festivals such as NZIFF, Flickerfest, Māoriland, Show Me Shorts, Galway Film Fleadh, Vail Film Festival, Melbourne Women in Film Festival and more. She has produced and directed commercial content for brands such as Contiki, Sir John Kirwan Foundation, Fonterra, Fieldays, Silver Fern Farms and Auckland Theatre Company. Other highlights of her filmmaking career to date include second unit directing on Amazon’s feature Don’t Make Me Go and creating the highly-acclaimed NZ On Air funded documentary Disorder. In 2024, she was selected for the prestigious DEGANZ Emerging Women Filmmakers Incubator.
