5-Day Intensive Wheel Throwing Course
This 5-day practice-based wheel throwing pottery course is for anyone wanting to learn basic pottery throwing skills or to have more experience.
This 5-day practice-based wheel throwing pottery course will give you a chance to learn basic pottery throwing skills or to develop your pottery skills further under expert tutelage. A maximum of 5 students keeps your group small, close-knit and provides more direct tuition with your tutor.
The pottery classes run from 10:00am to 4:00pm each day. Day 1 starts at 9:30am.
The pottery course is taught by one of our professional potters, and covers the following:
-Introductory assessment of needs.
-Clay preparation and wedging techniques.
-Centering clay on the wheel.
-Throwing basic cylinders then moving on to different forms – jugs, vases, plates, bowls etc.
-Practising your preferred form, throwing to specific measurements, and repeat throwing.
-Turning and finishing, pulling and attaching handles and decorating techniques.
Clay is included and we provide tools. You are welcome to bring your own tools if preferred. Course price includes glazing and firing of 5 pieces. You are welcome to take any greenware with you.
