Hamilton City Council's Community Initiative Grants supports small not-for-profit community organisations within the city's boundary that deliver services, initiatives and projects that improve community wellbeing

This fund is designed to support community groups or organisations that:

– Have legal entity status i.e. incorporated societies or charitable trust,

– Have been operating for at least 12 months,

– Must provide annual financial accounts,

– Deliver social connectivity, community-focused activities or events within Hamilton.

This fund supports:

1. Day-to-day operational service, initiatives, and projects
2. Capital or equipment items and repairs and maintenance of existing assets that benefit the community
3. Community event and cultural festival costs.

Organisation can apply for up to $10,000 per application. Please note: this funding is for projects and activities taking place from late October 2025 onwards.

Information drop-in sessions:

Council staff will host three information drop-in sessions to answer questions and provide advice:

1. Thursday, 17 July, 10.30 am – 11.30am at Koowhai Room, Te Kete Aronui – Rototuna Library (Limited space, booking required)
2. Wednesday 23 July, from 1pm – 3pm at Ground Floor, Hamilton City Council Municipal Building
3. Monday 4 August from 10am – 12pm at Ground Floor, Hamilton City Council Municipal Building
